Insurance Claims Procedures

It is essential that insurers are notified of any insurance claims or potential claims as soon as possible – usually within 24 hours of the incident. In certain circumstances, late notification could result in your claim being rejected.

Your insurance policy or summary of cover document describes the procedures to follow to make a claim. Most insurers provide a claims helpline, details of which will be included in the aforementioned documents. If in doubt, please contact us.

If the insurance claim involves damage to property, do not dispose of the damaged items or authorise repairs (except in an emergency or to prevent further damage) until we, or your insurers, confirm that you can go ahead.

If your insurance claim involves damage or injury to a third party, you should pass all correspondence to us or to your insurer immediately. You should not get involved in negotiations or correspondence with a third party or their representatives, other than to inform them that the matter is being dealt with by your insurers and to provide them with contact details.

Customer pledge

We provide an insurance claims handling service for as long as you remain a client, and we will:

  • give you honest, expert insurance guidance
  • handle your insurance claim fairly and promptly
  • inform you if we are unable to deal with any part of your insurance claim
  • provide reasonable help and assistance if your claim is not progressing to your satisfaction.

Settling claims depends on payment by the insurer. We cannot accept responsibility for any delay or wrongful payment or non-payment of claims, but we will always try our best to ensure that claims are promptly and fairly paid.

“When we have been unfortunate enough to have a claim, it has been handled sympathetically and speedily. This includes a claim where Home Counties was instrumental in us receiving a settlement of nearly £2,000,000, when the insurers originally offered considerably less! We have the highest regard for Home Counties Insurance, and would be happy to recommend them.”
Mike Mansell, Director of Frontier Estates Ltd

I would be happy to recommend them to any business or personal customer.

Tim Haywood, Managing Director of Haywoods

Home Counties Insurance Services genuinely want to help, which is one of the reasons I recommend them. It is also the company to call for those who have no interest in playing 'musical insurance brokers'.
