It is essential that insurers are notified of any insurance claims or potential claims as soon as possible – usually within 24 hours of the incident. In certain circumstances, late notification could result in your claim being rejected.
Your insurance policy or summary of cover document describes the procedures to follow to make a claim. Most insurers provide a claims helpline, details of which will be included in the aforementioned documents. If in doubt, please contact us.
If the insurance claim involves damage to property, do not dispose of the damaged items or authorise repairs (except in an emergency or to prevent further damage) until we, or your insurers, confirm that you can go ahead.
If your insurance claim involves damage or injury to a third party, you should pass all correspondence to us or to your insurer immediately. You should not get involved in negotiations or correspondence with a third party or their representatives, other than to inform them that the matter is being dealt with by your insurers and to provide them with contact details.
